News from Warrawee - November 2011

The first thing I wish to say is that a DVD has been placed in the Stallion Section for you to see Warrawee Grandee and his progeny. We asked Kelli Green to prepare this for us and she has done a wonderful job - thank you Kelli. Warrawee Deecor also has a DVD in this section and also in the Stallion Section next page there is a tribute DVD to our foundation stallion Arabian park Banner by Banderol whose blood runs thru nearly every horse at Warrawee. If you have a few minutes to spare I am sure you will enjoy these DVDs.

It has been quite a while since we updated our news page but here we go -

On 9th April 2011 at Caulfield Racecourse His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai one of the world's most successful horse
breeders sponsored at race to be run by purebred Arabian horses The Shadwell Arabian Mile to be run on a raceday at Caulfield Racecourse. . You will have read the finer details in the Arabian Horse News and it seems Arabian racing will be commencing in a bigger way now it has been given the opportunity and hopefully the Arabian Horse community will get behind this sport.

Warrawee Naaziq did us proud representing Warrawee in the Shadwell Arabian Mile on this day. Naaziq also represented the Arabian horses entered in this race at a media release at Government House the week before and some photos hereunder show him being so well mannered and a credit to the breed. I was so proud of him and his owner Kim Noble and her family. We believe he will be a contender next year when the race is again sponsored by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Approximately 100 people were invited by The Sheikh to a luncheon at Caulfield Racecourse Members Room where we were treated to an amazing meal in the club rooms and the day was also supported by hundreds of Arabian enthusiasts.

Our beautiful Reserve Australian National Champion Yearling filly Warrawee Preevu now 4 y.o., has been broken to saddle and hopefully will be out and about next season.

Melissa Wray reports her Anglo Gelding by Warrawee Grandee from Star of Lochiel (ASB) Warrawee Dreem Maker was Champion Anglo and Perpetual Trophy Best 3 y.o. at the South Australia Main Event in April. Also at Adelaide Royal August he was third in very strong company in his senior breed class. At 16.2h at three and a half years old the judge commented she could see he was still young but had amazing potential and will make a stunning ridden horse. So pleased for you Melissa. Melissa hopes to get him out under saddle next season.

Warrawee Adoree

Her first foal "Didi" (Daddy Cool x Warrawee Adoree) is growing into a handsome young 2 y.o. colt and is much admired in Germany. We are so impressed with this youngster as he reminds us so much of our line here in Australia. Memories of our wonderful Mt.William Deena (dec'd) come to the fore. Sandra volunteers that Warrawee Beyoncee by Royal Hit (Imp) is much admired in Germany also which is great to hear.

We are so happy to announce that 4 y.o. Warrawee Jive Queen (Jive Magic (Imp) x Warrawee Ashantee) is back home to live at Warrawee. This magnificent mare will have a foal this coming 2013 season hopefully and may then commence a saddle career.

Warrawee Jive Queen

John Findlay's mare Gleneagles Regina foaled a lovely colt by our Warrawee Grandee. This mare herself is by Grandee and her dam is a full Clydesdale mare, and he made the decision to cover the mare with Grandee for this foal - a father over daughter mating which really worked.

The wonderful 2 y.o. Royal Hit (Imp) gelding out of Warrawee Azuree an Ashantee daughter - is with his new owner Alison McHenry as her next dressage horse. A sad day for Dick and I today 28th November 2011- a special warmblood stallion friend of ours Heini was layed to rest at age 34 years. I am so pleased that we were with our friend and his long time owner Michelle Wilson at this time. Heini spent a lot of time at Warrawee serving his mares and we have memories of him thumping in the float as it came down the driveway - he knew a mare was waiting for him here. He actually served a mare two years ago and the local vets were amazed at his longevity - and would ask after him wanting to know how he was getting on. He sired quite a few foals for Warrawee and he was known for passing on his amazing temperament. His blood runs through our own Warrawee Deecor. A photo of Heini appears in our reference stallion section when he was being ridden some years back. The photo appearing with this article on the left was taken by Jenni Beulke only a year ago. The other photo of him with Michelle was taken four years ago. Jenni has a Heini son Warrawee Peeter Pan who was out of Warrawee Amoree and news of him appears earlier in this current update. He will live on in our memories - rest in peace old man - much loved.

Vale: Heini

Well our halter training has started and time to spruce up the youngsters and try and get them to a show or two. Still awaiting the birth of our first foal for the season from Warrawee Love Storee by Warrawee Bandanna.
